Richard Plowright

Founder and Managing Director

Richard is founder and Managing Director of NZMS and wholly owned Australian subsidiary, AMSL. He was heavily involved with establishing effective haemodialysis units in Christchurch Hospital before moving into pharmaceutical sales and management. As a leading New Zealand independent medical distributor Richard has extensive experience in the New Zealand and Australian medical industry and is responsible for introducing hundreds of new devices and pharmaceuticals to our healthcare market.

Trish is a qualified medical laboratory scientist and worked for 10 years at Waikato Hospital.  She then moved into a contract negotiation role in the health sector for 3 years before she joined NZMS in 2000. Trish now runs the Diagnostic Division and Diabetes Division overseeing the day to day management of both the sales team and the strategic vision of both divisions.

Ruth Hughes

Ruth has a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and completed her hospital base nursing training in the late 1970’s at Greenlane Hospital. The majority of her nursing practice was with the renal dialysis service at Auckland Hospital where she was 2IC for several years. Ruth then moved into sales and management roles in the pharmaceutical and device industry before arriving at NZMS in 2002 to utilise her extensive medical background managing the growing Medical Division.

Angelique has a long history of working in the medical fields of Ophthalmology and Medical Aesthetics in sales and management roles. Angelique provides support to a team of product specialists based in New Zealand and Australia and liaises with the suppliers to ensure the products are well represented and backed by ongoing training.

Shrish has a Bachelor’s degree majoring in microbiology and a Master’s degree in Bioscience Enterprise majoring in innovation commercialisation. Complementing his degrees, Shrish has several years of experience working in commercial laboratory testing environments and also in the sales and marketing of life science solutions to the research, clinical and industrial markets in New Zealand. At NZMS, Shrish looks after the running of the Scientific Division, managing, supporting and working with the team to grow the division.

Judy began work at NZMS many years ago when it was just her, a customer services lady and two joint Managing Directors. Her role includes overseeing the customer services and warehouse operations, financial accounts, payroll and quality assurance. There is not too much going on in the company that she doesn’t know about!

Hugh has been a part of the NZMS team since 2011, heading marketing operations across New Zealand and Australia. Hugh has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland and has previously worked in advertising management, giving him valuable insight into marketing strategy and execution.

Anais Aguilera

Anais graduated with a Master’s degree in Communications and Languages in 2013 from Jean Moulin Lyon III University in France. Prior to joining NZMS Anais worked on various marketing and communications projects both internationally and in New Zealand. Her role at NZMS involves the preparation and execution of the marketing strategy put into place to expand the presence of the products NZMS represents in the New Zealand healthcare market.

Jason McKain

Warehouse Manager

Prior to NZMS Jason worked with major Logistics Companies in NZ and Australia, setting up warehousing and improving transportation, running depots and multi-site warehousing. His role in NZMS involves stock control, staff management, order picking/packing, stocktakes, freight and transport, warehouse supplies, building maintenance and storage of chilled, frozen and ambient goods.

Karen Clegg

Medical Division

Karen is responsible for all product ranges across the Medical Division from her base in Christchurch. Her role at NZMS is backed by a strong understanding of the market, managing implementation strategy and a strong focus on education and inservice. Prior to joining NZMS, Karen was a Senior Dialysis Technician in Christchurch, followed by three years managing a large dialysis unit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Sarah started in her role as a Certified Insulin Pump Trainer back in 2012.  As part of the Diabetes team she is responsible for educating and commencing suitable patients for Insulin pump therapy in conjunction with Endocrinologists.  Sarah has started hundreds of Type 1 Diabetics on insulin pumps and Dexcom Continuous Monitoring Systems, from a 3lb baby boy in Neonatal Intensive Care through to an 87yr old first time pumper. She has even commenced a newborn infant onto an insulin pump in Belgium. She finds her role extremely rewarding and loves each and every minute of helping those with Type 1 Diabetes.

Kevin Holwill

Kevin graduated with a Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing and completed New Zealand Nursing Council Registration in 1997. He completed his Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Eastern Institute of Technology in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand in 2003. Prior to joining NZMS Kevin worked in various sales roles in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.  His role at NZMS involves the managing the sales of our Diabetes Portfolio into the Lower North Island Territory, based in Wellington.

Roger graduated with an IMM GSM Diploma in Marketing Management in 2001. His past medical sales experience stems over 10 years with knowledge of the Pharmaceutical and Advanced Wound care markets. Before joining NZMS he worked in South Africa as a Product Specialist in the Operating Theatre gaining valuable insight into Laparoscopic Gynaecology and the General Surgery space. As an Auckland based Territory Manager, his role involves training new insulin pump uses and promoting CGM devices to HCP’s within the Upper North Island Territory.

Courtney graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Canterbury in 2010. Prior to joining NZMS Courtney worked at a histology laboratory in Christchurch gaining registration as a qualified medical laboratory technician before moving to the UK, where she worked in an immunohistochemistry laboratory at UCL for 2 years. Her role at NZMS involves the territory management of the South Island and lower North Island, building relationships and offering technical support over a diverse range of diagnostic products.

Igor graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Auckland in 2008. Prior to joining NZMS in 2015, he spent 6 years working in medical laboratories with a focus on quality and productivity improvement. His role at NZMS involves managing customer relationships throughout his territory for the diagnostic division and introducing customers to new products which represent the latest technology in medical diagnostics and immunotherapy based therapeutics.

Amber graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Otago University and Postgraduate Marketing Diploma from the University of Auckland.  Prior to NZMS, Amber has worked in both sales and marketing roles for a number of leading pharmaceutical companies. Her role at NZMS involves full management of the skincare and vascular portfolios.

Katrina has extensive background in sales, marketing and management roles throughout New Zealand in the appearance medicine arena. Katrina is responsible for managing sales, training and education in New Zealand for our Merz® injectables range as well as Ulthera® and Regen Lab®  Platelet Rich Plasma.

Cendrine is a Registered Nurse with many years of experience in Accident & Emergency nursing. Prior to this, she worked as a Flight Attendant for the Saudi Royal family and as a Regional Business Manager for a range of community A & E clinics. Cendrine started at NZMS in 2017 and her role is to manage sales and training for Medical Aesthetics covering the South Island and various areas across Auckland.

Stephanie graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Microbiology from the University of Canterbury in 2014.  Prior to joining NZMS, Stephanie worked in a commercial laboratory testing foods, waters and environmental samples.  As part of the Scientific Division, Stephanie is based in Christchurch and her role involves managing and providing technical support for key accounts, as well as new business development within the South Island.

Ralph graduated from University of Auckland in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biological Sciences. He has worked in several industries covering logistics and warehousing through to contract cosmetic manufacturing before entering the commercial laboratory testing sector in 2011. Ralph has been exposed to all facets of the laboratory having worked across several disciplines and at different levels; he is well versed on food safety and environmental analysis. As part of the Scientific Division in NZMS, Ralph is based in Auckland covering from Waikato down through to Wellington; managing key accounts and providing technical support, as well as developing new business opportunities.

Susan has worked for many years in customer services, prior to working at NZMS she was working in the banking sector. Susan has a frontline role with NZMS working as a customer services coordinator,  and sales support working closely with the warehouse on stock control.

Estelle has had extensive experience working in customer services & logistics roles in New Zealand, as well as having had a nursing background both in the UK & New Zealand. Her role at NZMS involves sales support, particularly in the Diagnostic & Point of Care division, as well as customer service.

Kathy provides administrative support to the Diabetes team, and also manages all NZMS products for the DHB National Catalogue website. Kathy has worked for companies in New Zealand & Australia in customer services and logistics management roles, and this is her second time employed by NZMS.

Julia Murrel

Julia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the Auckland University in 1990 and qualified as a teacher in 1995. Prior to working for NZMS, Julia has undertaken various administrative roles and recently worked as the Practice Manager for St. Heliers Health Centre. Her part-time role at NZMS is as an administrator in the processing of immunotherapy vaccine orders.
